On 22 Jan 11, Tracy and I did some snowshoeing on the north end of the Mirror Lake Highway
(Yahoo map). We had actually never driven to this side of the closed highway in the winter, so
I just wanted to see what it was like. It wasn't too awfully crowded, although there was a pretty
good amount of snowmobile traffic, especially going down the Mirror Lake Highway. But we
hiked along FR 58, and we had a good time. It snowed on us a few times, and there was a lot
of snow out there, but the road was well packed, and we didn't need the snowshoes while
walking on the road. This was a good area to come to for snowshoeing, and I'm sure we'll go
back now that I know it's a little less crowded than the south side of the highway.
