The weekend of 31 Jul 10, Tracy and I hiked Yellowstone Creek (Google Map) in the Uintas. I
had wanted to do Brown Duck Basin, but I tried to drive a rough Forest Service road that I
thought might let us get closer to the basin and allow me to hike in on a trail I hadn't done
before. The road was really rough, though, and it took us a long time to drive up it. Eventually
I got tired of driving it, though, and I didn't want to subject my truck to anymore abuse, so we
turned around and went back out. Once we got back down, I decided we should go do the
Swift Creek Trail since it was still on my list. By the time we got to the trailhead it was nearly
dark, so we car camped near the trail. We got up the next morning and went to the trailhead,
only to find that the Forest Service had closed the Swift Creek trail for some reason that didn't
really make much sense. Since the Yellowstone Creek started at the same trailhead, we
decided to hike that, instead. The trail was pretty good, but it wasn't anything spectacular. We
really just hiked for a few miles until we got bored with it, and then we headed back. It was a
nice weekend to be out, though.
