The weekend of 24 Oct 08 Tracy and I had planned on going to Grand Gulch.  When it came down to it,

though, after all the driving we had been doing over the past couple of weekends, we just didn't feel like

driving that far for an overnighter.  And we didn't want to take a vacation day to make it a two-nighter,

because we're still toying with going to Paris this spring.  So we stayed home and went to the Deseret

Peak Trail (Google Map) in Deseret Peak Wilderness on 26 Oct 08.  We've been on the trail to Deseret

Peak once before, but we didn't go far, so this time we were going to push further up the trail.  The trail

was actually really nice.  There was some good aspen color low down on the trail, and then there were

some nice open meadows further up.  We only went about 3 miles up, because, well, it was fall, and I

enjoy just taking it easy in the fall.  We only saw one other couple on the trail, and it was just generally

a really nice hike.  The area reminded me a lot of the Front Range around Eldorado in Colorado.  This

trail in less than an hour from the house, so we definitely need to come here more often.
