The weekend of 18 Oct 08, Tracy and I drove down to the Pine Valley Mountain Wilderness
outside of Cedar City, UT, in an attempt to get to warmer weather and see some lingering fall
colors. The area was really nice, and, just like last year, we really enjoyed walking around the
closed campgrounds in the deciduous forests with ambling creeks...the area REALLY reminds
us of home. This time we went up to an old Guard Station we had seen the year before to see
what the sign hanging on the door said. The sign said the cabin was being renovated and
would be open for rental next year. This made us happy! This is a good place to come this
time of year, and the cabin access would make it that much better. We camped out on
Saturday night, and I learned that I can't just sleep on the ground with a space blanket over top
of my sleeping bag, because condensation will totally saturate my bag. Oh well...gotta find a
new way to do that. On Sunday we hiked around Bryce Canyon some, but I'm not a huge fan
of Bryce, so we spent the rest of the day just exploring around.
