Trail Pictures

Grandaddy Mountain

There were a lot of

lakes in this area.  We

had just walked up

through Hades Pass

and the lakes were on

the other side.

Grandaddy Lake.  We

were going to camp on

this lake but we met a

couple who wanted to

camp there so we

moved on.  The guy had

went to UT in the 70's.

I don't know where this

is so this has to be the

lake Keith took pictures

of while I was asleep in

the tent.  It started with

an M.

Scree slopes make us

think of the 14 thousand

foot mountain we tried

to climb in Colorado.  It

was a rugged

alternative to hiking on

the prescribed trail.

while I took a nap.  The 5

mile hike in made me a

little tired.

night.  It was very windy

here.  It was a great

place to star gaze,

though!

Fall is our favorite time

of year.

It was nice in the woods.

We had to drive through

a herd of sheep to get to

this area.  I think they

had escaped.

We drove through a

herd of cattle on the

way down from our trail.

These pictures were taken over the weekend of October 1, 2005.  Most of the pictures were

taken on the Grand Daddy Lake Trail (Google Map) in the High Uintas Wilderness in Utah.

This was a great hike with lots of lakes in a large lake basin.  The area was over 10,000 feet in

altitude, and it was already really cold.  But the place was really pretty.  The other pictures are

of the fall colors taken on the drive back from the trailhead.  It's nice to be back in the Rocky
